"Introduction to Business Information Systems" provides a comprehensive overview of the discipline that deals with developing and deploying information systems within companies and organizations. As our society increasingly relies on information technology, understanding business information systems becomes paramount. This book aims to cater to readers at various educational levels by focusing on integrated application systems, unlike many other introductory texts.
The authors assume a foundational knowledge of computers and networks, which can be acquired through university PC labs or personal PC usage. They start by introducing essential hardware and software concepts, progressing from PCs to other computer classes and delving into network fundamentals, including the Internet.
As students advance in their business studies, the book illustrates how information systems support various processes within firms. It elucidates concepts used in modern application systems and fosters an integrated perspective that enhances critical thinking and conceptualization of operational processes.
The content is structured methodically, covering topics such as data and databases, integrated data processing, application systems across different sectors, electronic commerce, and enterprise integration through supply chain management. Each section explores theoretical foundations alongside practical applications, providing readers with a well-rounded understanding of business information systems.
Furthermore, the book addresses planning, implementation, and deployment strategies for application systems, emphasizing project management and the organizational aspects of information systems.
Introduction to Information Systems, 8th Edition, teaches undergraduate business students how to use information technology to solve their current or future jobs. Students develop a working understanding of information systems and information technology and learn to apply concepts to successfully facilitate business processes. This program demonstrates that IT is the backbone of any business, whether a student is majoring in accounting, finance, marketing, human resources, manufacturing/operations management, or MIS.
This is the book you need to practice. Nothing to say. It was well packaged, cheaper here, and fits in a 1" folder. Unfortunately not a rental option. I used to buy loose leaf books and they worked great. Sometimes you just prefer the real stuff to the electronic versions.
